Dingle Day 2
Dear everyone - I just want to let you all know that when you stay with Helen, you get this magical sunrise and an equally magnificent breakfast. AND! I got my first good pot of coffee in Ireland. Yes, I did drink the entire French Press. She offered a second one...but I think Prash would have killed me because sing-alongs to Wicked would have ensued and...yeah I really don't need to say anything past that.
Breakfast was great, it was warm so I had my shorts on, we were ready to roll. The agenda for today was really just to drive the Dingle Loop. The Dingle Loop is a scenic drive around the Dingle Peninsula, otherwise known as Slea Head Drive, and let me tell you, the views are incredible. Seriously - If I could write a blog post with just pictures and let you draw your own conclusions...totally would. I mean, I guess I could still do that, but where is the fun in that!? I will give sneak peeks, but you really just have to see it for yourselves. Priscilla, did I say Dingle enough?
Seriously. Ireland might be my new happy place. Here's a list of reasons why:
1)The colors go well with my coloring
2) SHEEPS!
3) The Mister is kind of Irish
4) The outdoors look like this
5) It sometimes rains and I love the rain
6) Irish Whiskey
7) It's close to Ed Sheeran's home land, so maybe one day I'll run into him and I can be his best friend who he likes to sing to.
So, the weather went from sunny, beautiful shorts weather...to windy freezing cold rainy weather in the span of about 5 minutes. Way to keep me on my toes Mother Nature, you really know how to show me who's boss!
Anyway, that little bout of bad weather passed quickly and it was another lovely Irish day. We drove for a little while longer and found Kilmalkedar Church, it was completely in ruins, but still surprisingly sturdy. It just amazes me how well things were built without the machinery and technology we have today. I think that might be my favorite thing about super old buildings - if they wanted it, they had to really, really want it.
That was about the end of our drive on the Slea Head Drive, and I was starving so we went back to town for Fish and Chips and a sex beer...guys, I promise I'm not being filthy. The beer is called sex in Gaelic....I mean it's just super disgusting...like, seriously, way to not live up to the name. While I was eating my Fish and Chips, a man walked by and acted like he was going to take it. I went from being angry because I was starving to actually finding it funny. I can't picture anyone in Charlotte pretending to take my food without being a super creeper...or getting their hand bitten off.
After lunch, we drove up to Connor's Pass, the highest mountain pass in Ireland. I'm not going to lie, I felt like I was going to get blown off the Mountain from the wind...but the views! I know what you're thinking, "Again, with the views!"...I wouldn't lie. Not about something this important. You can see for yourself here. There is also a really cool water fall that the Billy Goat just had to climb. More power to him.
I'm going to share this with you guys because I want you to see how truly tiny the roads are. I'm also going to warn you that I was startled, and my language took a downturn...so this is not really safe for work or children there toward the end.

So...Basically those roads just super scare me all the time. One day, when I'm a grown up. I'll be able to handle it. I just really love sheep. I love that they are all over the roads.
That was pretty much the end of our sight seeing in Dingle. We went back to Helen's to relax before dinner...and by relax I mean watch Spongebob in Gaelic...because we are adults. He called them Krabby Burgers, it just didn't sound the same.
We had dinner at an "American" place...so basically just like a million calories, except it wasn't super good. We went to a really cool pub for some great music, and my mister saw this in the bathroom. He called it the Dingle Tingle. Until next time!
