The Day I Saw a Unicorn...For Real.
Well, my friends, Betty's saga is about to come to a close. But not just yet. By the time we woke up (read: I packed everything and woke Prash up because it was finally the check-out time window), I was more than ready to go. We lugged the suitcases down the stairs and were on our way to load the car, only to be stopped by Betty; we, of course, had to settle up the bill. When we booked the hotel, it said we could pay by card. So, that was the plan. Betty told us that if we had to pay by card, we would have to go back upstairs to her computer room. You may judge me for leaving prash there. But, I loaded all of the heavy suitcases in the boot just like a game of tetris. My reasoning was, if something happened, it would be better if one of us could get away to find help. The problems that I didn't really think through? I don't fully trust driving on the other side of the road, and I can't drive a manual transmission. But, by God, I would figure it out. Prash was gone for a really long time. When I say really long, I mean it got to a point where I thought, "2 more minutes and I'm going for help." Finally, he comes down (I'm sure he was impressed by my car loading abilities - he was just too shaken up to mention it). He said we needed to get the eff out, so naturally I asked what happened. Ladies and Gentlemen, if you go to Betty's, and you are paying by card, you have to go upstairs into a creepy, back room used to store weird furniture, paintings, and knick knacks (I'm picturing that room with all the cursed objects from The Conjuring). Apparently, while in this room alone with Betty, she has to boot up a prehistoric computer using dial-up internet. What's fishy about this? Betty has free wifi in her house...why is she using dial up if not to prolong the inevitable murder?! Well, I mean we both got out relatively unscathed, aside from the spider bites. That was the last we ever hope to see of Betty.
We went into town and had breakfast at Revive cafe. It's a really cute place, they make a great cup of coffee, and the food is also pretty good (I think, my breakfasts are running together at this point). But anyway, if you love breakfast and coffee as much as I do, go here. Just do it.
Next, we started the relatively short drive from Killarney to Cork. And then it happened. I saw the unicorn.
into. There was a pizza here with blood pudding on it...He really wanted it, we did not get it. Why ya gotta go ruin a perfectly good pizza?...I know you're going to be shocked, but after the brewery we went back to McDonald's. I don't know why I eat so much of that when I'm not in America. It's one of life's greatest mysteries.
We met one of Prash's best friends for dinner. We went to a really fun place in the city and ordered more food than I've probably seen in one sitting...and I'm an American. But the food was great, it was a ton of fun, I'm glad Prash was able to spend time with an old friend.

Sorry for the picture quality, it was raining and I made Prash turn around because he didn't believe there was a unicorn...but there is definitely a unicorn somewhere between Killarney and Cork.
We had a pretty relaxed day in Cork. We were going to go to the Blarney Stone, but I'm not really into putting my mouth somewhere millions of strangers have slobbered...and Prash wasn't into the crazy entry fee. Apparently, when he was a kid, he used to sneak in. He could not tell me how he did that, so instead he bought me a Champagne flavored ice cream bar (Ireland is just the best), and showed me around his old home town. We drove past his house, and his school, and the McDonalds...where I made him stop for fries. Because I get hungry frequently.

That just about sums up our day in Cork. Next time, we are off to Prash's other old hometown of Kilkenny!
