The Mancub Took Me to the Ballet in a Palace

I was sad to leave Vis because it is gorgeous, but so excited to get back to civilization!  *Insert
obligatory boat picture*  The ferry back to Split was nice, but extremely hot.  I pretty much just ate an entire jar of olives (masline!)...because there was a plethora and they were delicious.

Prash maintains that Split is his favorite city, which is understandable because Split is amazing.  We were smart this time and got directions from the port to our hotel before we got off of the boat...We learn quickly.  This hotel, however, gave us a room on the fifth floor.  With no elevator...and a marble spiral staircase.  So bless the mister's heart for carrying my luggage up those stairs and not dying...that would have been extremely unfortunate.

Anyway, back in Split we got gifts for people AND we (Prash) found the green olive paste from the plane...He's the best (I'm so cheesy).  After that, we stopped for a burger that was 8 inches in diameter...yeah, don't regret that.  At all.  While we were feasting, we were sitting at one of the outdoor tables and my purse was in the chair beside me with my hand on it.  Out of nowhere this boy comes up and is rocking back and forth over the chair mumbling/slurring, "saannndddviiicchhhhh....sanndddvicchhhh." I was confused and didn't want to be rude because I thought he wasn't all there, so I just stared at Prash, who stared at said boy.  Then I moved my purse and the boy moved onto the old men beside us.  Who gave him some kuna for the sandwich shop behind us, but he took it and walked away.  That, my friends, is the time a GYPSY boy pretended to be disabled in order to take my money...I still can't believe he would do that.

We got some more ice cream (three more times that night) and a milkshake and went back to our hotel for a little while to drop off our prizes...and saw the Split Ballet warming up for an tech rehearsal performance in the palace courtyard!  Needless to say we went home and changed and the Mancub took me to the ballet...in a palace, with a full symphony.  It may have been five years since I could still call myself a ballet dancer, but I will honestly never get tired of watching it.  Ever.  I could have stayed all night.  But, we were in Split, after all, so there were three other concerts happening within walking distance at the same time.  So we went to see those as well and enjoy Split one last time.

The next morning we had to catch an 11-hour ferry (can anyone say excitement!?) at 7:30am.  I read that it was supposed to be beautiful and the best way to get to Dubrovnik...but we'll get to that...we'll get to that.

Anyway, Split is still wonderful.  If you ever go to Croatia, definitely make sure to stop by.  And get some lavender sachets.  Don't listen to people who try to sell them to you for 10 kuna and pretend like that's a great deal, go around the corner and get them for 4.
